About the Opportunity

Digital Management, Inc. (DMI) is looking for an Oracle 12c Database Administrator (DBA) to work with their DMI teammates and USAFA customers to develop and install a new Student Information System (SIS) at USAFA. Following implementation and acceptance, the emphasis will shift to operation and sustainment of the new SIS. The Oracle DBA will help manage development, production and historical environments consisting of Oracle databases, Fusion Middleware, Oracle Cloud Services and other applications and interfaces. The DBA will work independently to ensure that the applications are operating efficiently, and to ensure that service levels are maintained and delivered. The Sr. DBA will also assist in the administration of other platform software.



Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and implement solutions for database sizing/capacity, server requirements and space requirements
  • Administer Oracle Databases including cloning and patching.
  • Resolve help desk tickets as assigned and provide 24-hour on-call support for problem analysis and resolution to system problems during mission critical events
  • Work with development teams to implement change management for custom code migrated into environments
  • Perform effective and independent incident and problem resolution for databases and applications
  • Research, plan, and perform application of bug fixes, application upgrades, database upgrades to Oracle Database 12c, and the implementation of security patches
  • In accordance with established guidelines design & develop processes/ procedures for loading data, interfaces, batch job operation, and perform high-level trouble-shooting of development / production systems independently
  • Work in a team environment by providing training and ongoing support of these processes/ procedures and help to build the knowledge of less senior DBAs
  • Develop and implement, with other team members, the processes and procedures for daily transactional backups and weekly complete backups
  • Must ensure STIG compliance and be able to address applicable IAVMs within allotted timeframes
  • Must be able to implement, sustain, and monitor an automated audit log
  • Other tasks as needed for successful project completion


Education and Years of Experience: 

  • B.S. (M.S. preferred) in computer science or related field
  • 7 years' experience working with IT systems used in support of higher learning

Required Skills/Certifications:

  • Able and willing to perform all of the duties and responsibilities described above
  • Excellent oral and written communication: Clear, concise, and professional
  • Oracle Database 12c Administrator Certified professional certification, or equivalent, is required
  • CompTIA Security+, or equivalent, certification is required


Desired Skills/Certifications:

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional/Manager (CISSP/M) certification is highly desired
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions and Cloud Services is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of DoD, Air Force and/or USAFA documentation and procedures is desired
  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) v3 Foundation certification, or higher, is desired
  • Knowledge of, and/or certifications in, the Agile software development methodology is desired
  • Knowledge of, and ability to use, Atlassian Jira software is desired
  • Knowledge of, and ability to use, Microsoft SharePoint is desired
  • Knowledge of, and ability to use, OBIEE is desired
  • Knowledge of RMF and/or eMASS is desired
  • Knowledge of, and experience working with 508 compliance, SSN Reduction Act, PII, and/or HIPPA is also desired
