Responsibilities

 

About the Opportunity

Digital Management, Inc. (DMI) is looking for two Technical Trainers/Writers to work with their DMI teammates and USAFA customers to develop and install a new Student Information System (SIS) at USAFA. Following implementation and acceptance, the emphasis will shift to operation and sustainment of the new SIS. The Technical Trainers/Writers will be required to develop user documentation (e.g., user manuals, online help tutorials, blogs) and present both formal and informal training to all users across USAFA. The training provided will range from system introductions and overviews for the majority of the customer base to very targeted application/function training for key power users/user groups and Academy leadership.

 

Duties and Responsibilites:

  • Coordinate/work closely with Project Managers and other members of the SIS integration team to ensure timely completion of deliverables
  • Manage project tasks, timelines, and communication
  • Develop training materials to support user community (e.g., user guides, checklists, SOPs, online help, FAQs, blogs)
  • Develop and present training seminars (e.g., lunchtime sessions, targeted training by group, system overviews, one-on-one sessions with leadership and power users)
  • Develop and post training videos
  • Facilitate all training events to include: room reservations, computers, projectors, lighting, network connectivity, handouts, links, after event clean-up
  • Other tasks as needed for successful project completion

 

Qualifications

 

Education and Years of Experience: 

  • B.S. (M.S. preferred) in computer science or related field
  • 4 years' experience working with IT systems; experience in support of higher learning is desired

Required Skills/Certifications:

  • Able and willing to perform all of the duties and responsibilities described above
  • Excellent oral and written communication: Clear, concise, and professional 
  • Expert technical writing; at least five years of verifiable technical writing experience
  • Basic understanding of general software training
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple ongoing projects within in a deadline-driven environment

Desired Skills/Certifications:

  • CompTIA Certified Technical Trainer (CTT+) certification, or equivalent, is desired
  • Society for Technical Communication (STC) Foundation, Practitioner, or Expert certification, or equivalent, is desired
  • Knowledge of DoD, Air Force and/or USAFA documentation and procedures is desired
  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) v3 Foundation certification, or higher, is desired
  • Knowledge of, and/or certifications in, the Agile software development methodology is desired
  • Knowledge of, and ability to use, Atlassian Jira software is desired
  • Knowledge of, and ability to use, Microsoft SharePoint is desired
  • Knowledge of, and ability to use, OBIEE is desired
  • Knowledge of RMF and/or eMASS is desired
  • Knowledge of, and experience working with 508 compliance, SSN Reduction Act, PII, and/or HIPPA is also desired

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) background check
