About the Opportunity

DMI is currently seeking to hire an Business Systems Analyst Journeyman.

 

Position Description:

  • Applies an established set of disciplines for the planning, analysis, design and construction of information systems on an enterprise-wide basis or across a major sector of the enterprise.
  • Develops analytical and computational techniques and methodologies for problem solutions.
  • Performs process and data modeling in support of the planning and analysis efforts using both manual and automated tools.
  • Applies business process modeling and analysis to support the coordination of activities between and amongst functional units supporting one or more functional lines of business

Duties and Responbilities:

  • Perform required detailed analysis of system and data requirements.
  • Interpret and capture functional requirements; provide assistance with technical design, prototypes, proof of concepts, and documentation as required.
  • Present solutions, demos, and system functionality to business and technical users via visual mediums such as Microsoft PowerPoint, Visio, Publisher, Adobe Pagemaker and Framemaker, etc
  • Provide project status updates reporting on the state of assigned deliverables, accomplishments, and significant risk items.
  • Facilitate, participate, and contribute in project meetings.
  • Learn the fundamentals of existing business processes and speak to the user community regarding technical designs and functionality.
  • Communicate frequently with customers to obtain and clarify requirements, address testing issues, and resolve trouble ticket problems.
  • Work closely with all team members to analyze issues, opportunities, and test defects in support of the application.
  • Participate in planning and execution of tasks related to the evaluation of new initiatives.
  • Adhere to organizational Policies, Procedures, and Practices.
  • Prepare documentation to support existing applications/systems.

 

Qualifications

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • BA/BS AND 6 years comparable experience
  • MA/MS (or Industry Standard Certification)
  • 2 years comparable experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Understanding of system/software development life cycle processes.
  • Ability to interact with users to derive, clarify, document, and communicate requirements and to define discrete business and system requirements that are traceable and testable.
  • Ability to take ownership of projects and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong desire to innovate and learn new technologies and techniques.
  • Ability to learn quickly in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work individually and in a team environment.
  • Personal initiative, a self-starter.
  • Passionate commitment to quality.
  • Position will require onsite work and occasional travel to support system requirements, initiatives, and customer priorities.
  • Ability to occasionally work nights, weekends and/or holidays on an as needed basis to support an urgent need if it arises.
  • Technical writing skills.
  • Strong computer skills especially Microsoft Office tools

Beneficial Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience with reverse engineering of applications for requirements capturing purposes
  • Background in business processes, technical writing, or requirement definition.
  • Strong customer service and consultation skills.
  • Ability to assist in creation of detailed presentations to high ranking officials, upper-level management, and technical users.
  • Experience with iGrafx would be beneficial.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Experience as a Business Analyst or Systems Analyst for government projects.
  • Experience with use cases and use case models.
