Responsibilities

About the Opportunity

DMI is currently seeking to hire a Windows System/Application Administrator - Journeyman.

 

Position Description:

The System Administrator will provide system support and maintenance for Windows operating systems on both blade servers and Virtual Servers (VMs), and supports application troubleshooting and upgrades. The administrator is expected to have a thorough technical knowledge and be capable of executing independent and team tasks as assigned. 

The administrator will need to be proficient in troubleshooting Windows-based server systems. Knowledge of both Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) and Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) implementation is highly recommended. 

The candidate must be a team player and willing to interact with people at all levels throughout the organization. He/She must also possess an outstanding ability to identify and troubleshoot hardware and software issues.

Duties and Responbilities:

  • Evaluate, install, debug, maintain and document Virtual Machines.
  • Technical Support for the system hardware and operating systems.
  • System upgrades, maintenance and enhancement, including configuration of operating systems, administration of user accounts, and maintenance of system security posture.
  • Install and upgrade system software/ application.
  • Research and investigate applications and OS problems and develop viable solutions; report recommendations clearly, effectively and in a timely manner
  • Work effectively with team DBA/Programmer to meet schedules / deadlines and maintain control of assigned work on a daily basis.

Qualifications

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • BA/BS AND 6 years comparable experience;
  • MA/MS (or Industry Standard Certification)
  • 2 years comparable experience
  • Relevant education includes degrees in Computer Science, IT Engineering or equivalent technical field.
  • Security + certification or higher DoD 8570 Information Assurance technical (IAT) Level II compliant (or ability to obtain)OSC Policies, Procedures and Practices

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience with Windows System Administration.
  • Experience with System Monitoring Tools; including Veritas NetBackup, Nimsoft, IPSec.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, and handle technical issues.
  • Strong time management skills
  • Ability to respond effectively to changing project requirements and/or business needs.
  • Abilty to fulfill OSC workflow and documentation requirements by ensuring all project data, is updated in a timely manner.

Beneficial Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience with server virtualization.
  • Experience with server hardening and security implementation strategies.
  • Experience with Nimsoft and Eventlog Analyzer is a definite plus.
