Responsibilities

About the Opportunity

The Senior Network Engineer will become part of a team of network engineers responsible for keeping an evolving mission critical enterprise network operating flawlessly.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:   

 

We are seeking a Network Engineer with an active TS clearance and who is able to pass a CI Polygraph.  The network engineer will need to perform a variety of network engineering tasks, including switch/router configuration, providing engineering solutions for network connectivity, supporting various encryption devices, firewall management, network proactive monitoring and documentation.

  • Develop LAN/WAN network designs to accommodate a data center migration
  • Demonstrated knowledge and hands on experience with LAN/WAN setup, TCP/IP protocol, routing/switching configurations and firewall technologies.
  • Must be willing to work with non-traditional network vendors and have a strong understand of traditional vendors like Cisco, Juniper and Arista.
  • Knowledge and experience with routing protocols (RIP, OSPF, and BGP)
  • Experience with firewall policy design and maintenance.  Familiarity with monitoring firewall devices and response to device problems.
  • Experience configuring, deploying and troubleshooting firewalls.
  • Experience implementing and troubleshooting IPSEC VPN connections on equipment from multiple vendors.
  • Design and implementation of IPv6 infrastructure in a dual stack environment is desired.
  • Hands on experience with configuring, upgrading, and deploying network equipment.
  • Participate in the implementation of agreed upon solutions and strategies.
  • Capable of troubleshooting layer 1, 2 and 3 problems using various network tools.
  • Have experience working with type 1 network encryptor.
  • Generate innovative approaches and solutions to recurring tasks or problems.
  • Engineer will need to provide network-engineering input to customer on major projects, upgrades, and installations.
  • Be responsible for planning, implementing, and supporting changes to the network including cable infrastructure, network software and hardware.
  • Provide detailed documentation and procedures for all solutions.
  • Analyzing and recommending the purchase of network equipment.
  • Document technical problems, resolutions, and processes for assigned tasks and projects.
  • Participate in testing and evaluation of new technologies to ensure compatibility and functionality.
  • Follow policies and procedures for change and incident management.
  • Analyzing traffic information and providing analyses to justify network optimization and reconfiguration.
  • Have a general knowledge of systems and enterprise storage technologies.
  • The ideal candidate will be a proactive self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills, and must be able to work with minimal supervision. 
  • Willing to start work later shift hours (ex 10AM – 6 PM or Noon to 8PM) Monday to Friday to support west coast with the possibility for weekend (for maintenance or emergency).

Qualifications

Required Skills/Certifications:

  • Active TS is required (SCI eligible)

Desired Skills/Certifications: 

  • Cisco or network certifications preferred
  • Active Directory
  • Windows Server 2012 
  • Looking for someone with strong experience with switches
  • Looking for someone with strong experience with Layer 3
