As a Java EE Developer or Architect at DMI, your role is to create custom applications and perform solution modernization for our clients.  We start by uncovering the business problem to solve, so naturally you’ll participate in the analysis of business, user and functional requirements to understand our clients’ and users’ needs. You and your Agile team will develop the identified solution, in partnership with your client stakeholders.  You are both business focused and tech savvy, which means you can easily communicate technical and non-technical information clearly, answer questions from customers, and provide efficient technical solutions to problems—and of course stay up-to-date on the latest tech!


Target Experience Levels

  • Mid-Level Developers:  3+ years
  • Senior-Level Developers:  5+ years
  • Architects:  7+ years, with demonstrated experience designing & decomposing complex systems, providing technical and architectural guidance to team members, and collaborating with both business stakeholders and technical partners.


Our Must Have List

  • Deep experience with Java SE and Java EE (incl. core OOP concepts, JSF/JSP, JPA, etc.)
  • Substantial knowledge of Spring technologies (incl. Spring MVC, Spring REST, Spring Boot)
  • Experience with Hibernate or other ORM technologies; SQL; Relational DBs
  • Professional understanding of JavaScript/ES6; HTML & CSS; jQuery or similar JS libraries
  • Experience with Agile development; comfortable working in 2-3 week sprints resulting in a working, potentially shippable product at the end of every sprint
  • Experience with deploying Java EE applications to enterprise application servers such as WebSphere, WebLogic
  • Solid understanding of the Developer side of DevOps, including Git, Maven/Gradle, Jenkins/Hudson/Bamboo, SonarQube, Automated testing, Automated deployment
  • Experience with modernizing legacy Java web applications to current standards
  • At Architect level, possess critical architecture skills including system design, project decomposition, estimating, and the ability to quickly grasp & suggest improvements to the structure & design of existing, complex systems. Ability to mentor junior resources and communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills


Desired, But Not Required


  • Consulting Experience
  • Solid grasp of API concepts, Swagger; experience with API Management tools such as Apigee, MuleSoft Anypoint, etc.
  • Experience with React and React-based frameworks/workflows such as Flux, Redux, and react-router
  • Knowledge of modern JavaScript and web technologies including ECMAScript (ES6/7), Angular or AngularJS, CSS pre-processors (SASS, Less), JavaScript transpilers (Babel, TypeScript), and JavaScript build tools (WebPack, Browserify, Grunt, Gulp)
  • Experience with Node.js and the NPM package ecosystem
  • Basic Linux ability (RHEL, Ubuntu, SuSE)
  • BS or Masters in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
