About the Opportunity

Digital Management, Inc. (DMI) is seeking an Information Assurance Engineer to support the Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC) in Seaside, CA. The successful candidate will support cybersecurity objectives for a large Department of Defense (DoD) IT infrastructure, including daily patching and compliance activities, risk assessments and risk management, and periodic audits that review the health and compliance of the network and its assets.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Research and understand threats and vulnerabilities at the detailed, technical level to facilitate prioritization of risk mitigation efforts.
  • Evaluate potential IA security risks and take appropriate corrective action in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Balance security priorities with system and application availability requirements.
  • Conduct testing of patches and non-patch remediations on IT devices to demonstrate successful application before enterprise-wide operational deployment.
  • Perform automated deployment of vendor-supported and other patches to IT devices using enterprise patch management tools.
  • Perform Information Assurance Vulnerability Management (IAVM) compliance patching on all servers, workstations, and all other IAVM-applicable assets on both the SIPRNET and NIPRNET networks.
  • Work with customers to validate successful patching and to detect and troubleshoot patching or performance abnormalities.
  • Identify, evaluate, and provide feedback on problematic IA trends.
  • Support DoDI 8510.01 Risk Management Framework within the DoD cybersecurity program.
  • Prepare, distribute, and maintain SOPs and other guidance that prescribe cybersecurity best practices and technical implementation.
  • Support internal and external enterprise audit efforts and validate security compliance with regulatory, industry, and DoD controls, including authority to operate (ATO) governance.
  • Monitor cybersecurity aspects of contract performance and provide (and automate) periodic qualitative and quantitative reports that demonstrate contract performance against objectives and service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Research, create, implement, and monitor Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) documentation and Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) deviations.
  • Create recurring and ad hoc dashboards, pivot charts, and other data analytic products that demonstrate cybersecurity trends and outliers.
  • Provide applications services that are in compliance with and support DoD Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and IC PKI policies.
  • Periodically work flexible hours, including evenings, nights, and weekends to minimize downtime and impact to production systems, servers, and users.

Qualifications

 

Required Education and Certifications:

  • ​Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Forensics, Computer Engineering, Information Assurance, Management Information Systems, or equivalent military or professional work experience
  • CompTIA Security+ or CISSP certificate required within six months of employment
  • At least one domain-focused certificate (e.g., Linux+, RHCSA, RHCE, MCSE) required within six months of employment

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 5 years’ experience providing cybersecurity support within a large enterprise environment, preferably supporting the DoD or other federal customer
  • 2 years' experience using McAfee Host Based Security System (HBSS) 
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills and proven ability to work effectively with stakeholders having varying degrees of technical expertise
  • Knowledge of DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF)
  • Strong technical background in Windows, Linux ,networks, storage, and application systems
  • Must have knowledge of and experience with networks operating on Microsoft Windows Server 2008/2012/2016, Windows 7, Windows 10, Red Hat 5x, 6x, 7x, Solaris, and VMware.
  • Experience using Excel to analyze data, investigate data anomalies, and identify trends and outliers

  • Security+ certification
  • CISSP certification
  • Risk management certification (e.g., CRISC, PMI-RMP)
  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation certification
  • PMP certification
  • Agile certification (e.g., CSM, CSD, PMI-ACP, SAFe)
  • Scripting experience in one or more languages (e.g., PERL, Python, PowerShell, SAS)
  • Familiarity with Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) solution, including the creation of queries, reports, and dashboards

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with TOP SECRET security clearance, or with SECRET security clearance and SSBI
