Responsibilities

About the Opportunity

DMI is searching for a confident, proven, and dynamic individual to serve as a Business Analyst on a highly visible program. The Business Analyst role is to become a subject matter expert on the Grants.gov system, perform business case analysis and develop written technical and functional information about Grants.gov that aids in the development, use, and support of the system. Outputs will include system documentation and web content & word documents to be read by both technical and non-technical personnel across all stakeholders, gathering requirements, creating specifications and preparing other system documentation.

 

A top candidate would be very client-focused. To be a strong team player you must be proactive in identifying issues and risks, and work with the client and the team to be a trusted advisor. Another challenge is maintaining an excellent level of current operational support while planning and integrating new enhancements and technologies.

 

To be successful you will see this position as the lynchpin to the success of the overall federal grants management line of business. This is a very fast paced environment. With this role comes an opportunity to learn new technologies and take a position of visibility at high levels within DMI and the Grants community.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Perform and contribute to gathering, analyzing and documenting requirements in support of system, business, stakeholder, and user requirements.
  • Translate business process needs into technical requirements.
  • Develop work and process flows to represent user actions, system processes and data integrations.
  • Support development of user stories, mock-ups/wirefames, use cases, system requirements specification documents, user guides, and other supporting functional documents to support reviews and software release deliveries.
  • Identify acceptance criteria and assisting in testing as needed.
  • Collaborate with software developers and testers to ensure that system design, development, and test specifications satisfy approved requirements.
  • Work with program stakeholders to ensure continuous process improvement and apply Agile best practices and methods across the engineering life cycle.
  • Ensure that deliverables meet functional and design specifications and requirements.
  • Identify, track, monitor and communicate project-related issues, scope changes, variances and contingencies that may arise during the implementation of projects.
  • Willing to travel within the DC/Metro area up to 2-3x per week

Qualifications

Required Skills/Certifications:

  • Strong analytical experience with ability to quickly assimilate into the client's operational environment, gain understanding of the stakeholders' business needs and translate into discrete, testable, and measurable system requirements
  • Ability to author core requirements artifacts including user stories, acceptance criteria, functional analysis documents, software requirements documentation, and user guides
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Participate in requirements gathering sessions with stakeholders, provide briefings to clients, and produce high quality requirements artifacts
  • Experience with requirements management tools (e.g. JIRA, Requisite Pro, DOORS)  

Desired Skills/Certifications:

  • Experience with being part of Agile scrum teams
  • Experience with Human Centered Design methodologies and deliverables (E.g. Personas, Jouneymaps)
  • Experience with data analytics to support analyzing large volumes (10,000+ data sets) of survey or response data.
Education and Years of Experience: 
  • 3+ years of experience with requirements analysis
  • BA or BS degree in any field

Location: DMI Tyson's Corner office. Willing to travel within the DC/Metro area up to 2-3x per week
