About the Opportunity


About the Opportunity:

The Bids & Proposals (B&P) organization of DMI is looking for a full-time Copy Editor. This person will copy edit all proposals and content before it is submitted to the client; content length ranges from two (2) to several hundred pages in length. This person is responsible for ensuring the document(s) contain appropriate formatting and styles. The candidate should have good working knowledge and understanding of correct grammar, spelling, diction, and syntax. The candidate should be able to work in a fast-paced environment with quick turnaround times (perhaps only a few hours) to edit work. This is an ideal role for someone who is detail oriented, appreciates language, and can prioritize needs.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Copy editing proposal material for Government and commercial clients
  • Desktop Publishing to include managing styles and organizing page layout
  • Fact-checking content for accuracy and consistency
  • Provide suggestions for consistent text, themes, and images to enhance the proposal's message and readability
  • Maintain "Common Terms" and "List of Acronyms" logs for coordination amongst proposal contributors for each proposal
  • Ensuring compliance with and completion of all requirements
  • Coordinating to help submit proposals


Education and Years of Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1-2 years copy editing experience 

Required Skills/Certifications:

  • Advanced Microsoft Word skills to include styles, references, and formatting
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite a huge plus
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint and other collaboration tools
  • Ability to tailor content to specific requirements
  • Willingness and ability to work long hours when required
  • Exceptional organizational and prioritization skills
