About the Opportunity

Digital Management, Inc. (DMI) is seeking a Desktop Technician to support the Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC) in Alexandria, VA, located within the Mark Center. We are looking for a candidate with a broad range of technical skills and the natural initiative and ability to continue acquiring new knowledge, applications, and technologies. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting desktop and peripheral equipment, preferably within a large enterprise environment.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide Tier Two technical support for thousands of onsite and remote military, civilians, and contractors at DMDC and DoD agencies, including responding to phone, ticketed, and walk-in requests for assistance.
  • Effectively prioritize and complete diverse technical tasks from multiple customers in a complex, high-intensity enterprise environment.
  • Monitor and respond to requests and incidents for a broad range of topics, including: application software and/or hardware, user account security, communications, system policy guidance, laptops, software, printers, document scanners, audio-visual equipment, handheld devises, network service outages/disruptions, and enterprise server outages/disruptions.
  • Create, test, sequence, schedule, distribute, and validate software packages to the enterprise using Microsoft SCCM and CA ITCM.
  • Image and deploy workstations, laptops, tablets, and other equipment.
  • Perform physical asset management functions throughout the asset life cycle, including: equipment inventory, assessment, disbursement, relocation, and destruction.
  • Perform logical asset management functions throughout the asset life cycle, including: database entry into the asset register (AR), database maintenance, and database validation and reporting.
  • Scripting (e.g., batch, PowerShell, Python, PERL) to automate tasks/processes.
  • Support cybersecurity objectives through network vulnerability scans using the Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS).
  • Help maintain a VMware virtual environment.
  • Continually hone and document response procedures to ensure standardization of user and incident support among multi-tiered support staff.
  • Occasionally participate in on-call rotation among staff who support a critical production infrastructure in a 24x7x365 environment and support evening and weekend patching and maintenance windows.





Required Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent military or professional work experience
  • Security+ or CISSP certification required within six months of employment
  • At least one domain certificate (e.g., A+, Linux+, RHCSA, RHCE, Puppet, MCSE, MCSA, VMware) required within six months of employment

Required Skills and Experience:     

  • 1 or more years’ relevant military or professional work experience using a broad range of applications and technical skills to support an equally broad range of technologies and end user issues
  • Availability to provide 24x7x365 support while operating in a rotational, on-call status
  • Significant scripting experience (e.g., Python, Puppet, PowerShell) to support automation
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office 2016 suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook)
  • A keen sense of urgency to facilitate prompt incident identification, research, and resolution
  • Ability to work independently or with a team to analyze and solve complex technical problems through research, diagnosis, identification and selection of courses of action, implementation, testing, and validation
  • Incredible verbal and written communication skills required to gather, synthesize, and analyze highly technical information from subject matter experts (SMEs) and to provide clear and concise status updates to diverse technical and non-technical stakeholders

Desired Skills, Experience, and Certifications:

  • Experience with Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP
  • Server administration (including VMware)
  • Administration of printers and other peripheral devices
  • Experience working in a 24x7x365 data center, service operations center (SOC), or similar fast-paced, high-demand environment
  • Experience supporting the US military, Department of Defense (DoD), or military-industrial complex as a service member, civilian, contractor, or consultant
  • Strong understanding of data center infrastructure, including UNIX, Linux, VMWare ESX, Oracle, and network equipment and operations
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel or similar software to manipulate and interrogate data to produce trend analysis, pivot tables, and other graphs and charts
  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation certification
  • CompTIA A+ certification
  • Certification in at least one scripting language or operating system (OS)

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with TOP SECRET security clearance, or with SECRET security clearance and SSBI
