About the Opportunity

DMI is seeking a full time Assistant Media Planner to support our Brand Marketing Customer Experience division. The Assistant Media Planner is essential for the day-to-day tactical management of media campaigns and requires the ability to work well in a fast-paced, detail-oriented, team environment.  The AMP will be responsible for overall support for the Media department and management of financial & ad delivery systems. This is a full-time position and requires your presence in our Arlington, VA office



Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with billing, tracking invoices, processing them for payment, and reconciling billing discrepancies with individual media vendors
  • Assist with the creation and maintenance of flowcharts, monthly budget/invoice trackers, and media authorizations (insertion orders).
  • Assist and learn campaign, target and creative set-up in social platforms, such as Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter.
  • Review and verify media buys to ensure proper execution and match-back to invoices
  • Coordinate with Project Managers and media vendors (sales reps) to attain media information & technical specs
  • Create and maintain media plan revisions, insertion orders, schedules, contracts, tracking URLs, campaign set-up in our ad server, and trafficking of assets and creative materials
  • Ability to gather information from media kits and online resources to be used for specification worksheets, print schedules, and flowcharts
  • Other responsibilities as needed


Education and Years of Experience: 

  • Have a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or minimum of 2+ years related work experience
  • Strong interest in media, social media, emerging technology, SEM (Search Engine Marketing), and analytics
  • Must possess acute attention to detail – anal-retentive qualities are a must in order to be successful in Media as we deal with a lot of numbers, ad specifications, billing and increasingly technical knowledge.
  • Highly organized and ability to multi-task across multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite, especially Excel, plus a familiarity with Macs and Google Work Apps (Google Sheet, Doc, Slides, etc.)
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, creative, learning and deadline-driven work environment
  • Willing to work beyond normal work hours as necessary to get the task/project done and help out other team members
  • Have excellent listening, communication, and people skills, as negotiating is part of the job
  • Possess strong math and analytical skills, a passion for technology is a plus.

Desired Skills/Certifications:

  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, macros, V-lookup, etc.)
  • Strong desire to learn on a daily basis and be resourceful, enjoy research, and data analysis
  • Interest in finding trends in data and research
  • Must have a strong work ethic, drive to learn, and be ethical
  • Experience with financial management tools, ad servers (DoubleClick), Research tools (Simmons)
