    About the Opportunity

     

    DMI is currently seeking to hire a SQL Server Database Administrator.

     

    Position Description:

    The Operations Service Line performs day-to-day technical management and administration for 35 US Coast Guard business applications and application infrastructure in order to provide a stable and secure IT capability. Responsibilities for the service line include:

    • Ongoing Operations
      • 24x7x365 Duty Analyst Support – rotating schedule
      • Provides system status updates to identified POCs
      • Management of all environments (Development, Test, Stage, Production, DR)
    • Periodic Operations (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly)
      • Application monitoring and tuning, Log checking
      • Capacity analysis and resource monitoring
      • Documentation management, License management
      • Contingency Plan Execution, Security Assessment Process
    • As-needed Operations
      • Release package deployments
      • Database patch and security finding remediation management
      • Data change operations, Data calls, Requests for data extracts (CREs) 

    The Database Management Specialist (DMS) provides technical expertise in the use of database management systems (DBMS). .

    • Defines file organization, indexing methods and security procedures for specific user applications.
    • Designs, implements and maintains low to moderately complex databases, access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation and statistical methods.
    • Maintains database dictionaries, monitors standards and procedures and integration of systems through database design.  

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Defines file organization, indexing methods and security procedures for specific user applications.
    • Execute ad-hoc queries and generate reports for users in a timely manner.
    • Provide project status updates describing the state of assigned deliverables, accomplishments, and significant risk items.
    • Estimate work duration and detailed tasks for input to project schedules.
    • Adhere to OSC Policies, Procedures and Practices

     

    Qualifications

     

    Education/Experience Requirements:

    • BA/BS OR 4 year’s comparable experience or relevant Industry Standard Certifications.
    • AA/AS + 2 year’s comparable experience or relevant Industry Standard Certifications.
    • Relevant education includes degrees in Computer Science, IT Engineering or equivalent technical field.
    • Security + certification or higher (DoD 8570 Information Assurance technical (IAT) Level II compliant) required.

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Knowledge and experience in the support, administration and development on the SQL Server database platform.
    • Ability to learn and adapt quickly in a dynamic environment.
    • Ability to take ownership of projects and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
    • Problem solving and analytical skills
    • Position may require limited on-call status to support system requirements, initiatives, or customer requests after hours and during weekends, on a rotating schedule
    • Must be a US Citizen

     

    Beneficial Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Experience with DISA STIGS and other technical security controls
    • Technical writing skills
    • Strong customer service and consultation skills
