    About the Opportunity

    DMI is hiring a Senior Cloud Systems Engineer who must have the ability to thrive in a highly technical role where the challenges are as diverse as they are abundant. Must think strategically about business, create technical drawings and documentation around customer objectives in complex situations. Provide solution strategies, as well as deliver quantitative results as they pertain to contract metrics and deliverables. Candidate should be a top-notch technologist who is a self-motivated individual with a proven track record of producing technical sound solutions in software/technology consulting and cloud environments. Be able to work in a Systems Engineering and Innovation team supporting services in the AWS cloud.

     

    DMI’s NASA Headquarters Information Technology Support Services (HITSS) contract is a large program that provides high quality IT services across many areas of NASA utilizing technologies such as Java, .Net, Drupal, AWS, virtualization, MicroStrategy, ServiceNow, agile development, etc to enable NASA HQ customers to accomplish NASA’s mission.  We support our customer’s vision to deliver reliable, innovative and respected IT solutions.  Our team provides this support in the areas of Software Development and Testing, IT Engineering, IT Operations, Multimedia, Security, Project Management, Help Desk support, Strategy and Policy support, and Administrative support.

     

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Automate all aspects of infrastructure and platform services
    • Accelerate Engineering team productivity by creating scripts, tools, utilities or code to address issues with new and existing projects and environments
    • Help to build, automate and monitor our infrastructure
    • Design, implement and support operational management of systems that deliver against strict requirements for functionality, scalability, performance, and reliability
    • Use tools such as Ansible, Vagrant, Puppet, Docker, Jenkins, Consul and others to create and maintain application environments and a deployment pipeline
    • Serve as a technical escalation point for critical pre-production issues and drives escalation/resolution of problems into Development, QA and Operations teams
    • Collaborate with development team to design in-house monitoring tools/software for managing the SCM and Development Operations environments
    • Experience providing direct operations support to development teams
    • Execution and automation of system administration tasks in both Windows and Linux including installing software, user and permissions management, etc.
    • Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe, etc.) and ceremonies
    • Develop code, build systems and tools to automate deployments and operational tasks and make them more effective and consistent
    • Develop and define processes and procedures to proactively manage all pre-production and production environments
    • Work with Configuration Management teams to assist in new architectural needs and optimize existing environments to improve workflow and productivity
    • Adopt, customize and implement best practice DevOps policies and DevOps procedures (encouraging collaboration across Dev, Ops, Security, etc. using process, tools, and human interaction)
    • Design, build and execute against client's Infrastructure (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) offerings
    • Provide Sr. Management with metrics and other reporting materials
    • Develop and define processes and procedures to proactively manage all pre-production and production environments
    • Work closely with planning groups to identify technologies that fit the strategic vision
    • Ability to effectively communicate information, both verbally and written, to end users and executive management, understanding when to speak up and deliver an assertive message in support of the project.
    • Team player, must be able to work professionally and collaboratively with the government customer and other contract members of the project team.
    • Ability and willingness to multi-task and work in an often fast-paced environment with deadlines.

     

    Qualifications

     

    Education and Years of Experience:  

    • Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four year college or university with major course work in computer science or a related technical field
    • Coding experience
    • 8+ years of experience in systems engineering and infrastructure
    • 5-7 years of experience in application analysis, design and development or network administration
    • 3-5 years of experience with cloud technology

    Required Skills/Certifications:

    • Private, Public, and Hybrid Cloud Architectures
      • Depth in SharePoint Architecture Microsoft SharePoint 2007/2010 and website administration for the cloud
      • Expert in Cloud Services preferably Amazon Web Services
    • VMWare ESX (Hypervisor)
    • Experience with version control systems such as Github
    • Continuous Integration and Delivery (Jenkins or similar)
    • Puppet experience is ideal, but will look at Chef, Ansible or Salt
    • Expertise scripting in Python, Bash, PowerShell etc.
    • Experience integrating RESTful APIs across multiple technologies
    • Basic TCP/IP networking knowledge a plus

    Desired Skills/Certifications: 

    • Azure
    • Previous roles in QA or QA Automation a plus
