    About the Opportunity

    DMI is currently seeking an experienced professional to fill a Database Administrator position to supporting NASA Headquarters. This position will work closely with Application Development, Systems Engineering and Operations teams to maintain and improve the performance, integrity and security of the various Databases we support.


    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Install, configure, administer, and tune various database environments
    • Work with a team to maintain and improve database practices and procedures
    • Apply knowledge of industry best practices of automated database maintenance processes and procedures
    • Maintain a proactive approach to stay up to date on industry best practices
    • Ensure that best practices are followed to maintain data integrity and ensure appropriate HA and DR solutions are in place
    • Support Application Development Teams in building maintainable database structures and building stored procedures and jobs as is required for application functionality
    • Proactively investigate/identify potential performance and scale issues
    • Work with Operations and Engineering teams to maintain security of critical data while enabling testing and deployment of applications
    • Aid in troubleshooting issues
    • Support Operations in their need to maintain the production environment


    Education and Years of Experience:  

    • Bachelor's in Information Technology or related field with 10+ years of experience or a Master's with 8+ years of experience.
    • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
    • 5+ years of experience as a DBA with various Database Technologies

    Required Skills/Certifications: 

    • Experience developing complex queries, stored procedures, functions and general database programming in SQL
    • Strong DBA skills with MySQL, Oracle, and SQL Server databases
    • Good Skills with cloud database technologies (Amazon RDS/Aurora)
    • Current knowledge of software configuration management software
    • Experience with support Development, Test and Production environments
    • Understanding of various tools to aid in ETL across different database platforms
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and client focus a must
    • Self-starter who takes initiative to get tasks done
    • Team player, must be able to work professionally and collaboratively with the government customer and other contract members of the project team
    • Ability and willingness to multi-task and work in an often fast-paced environment with deadlines
    • Manages time effectively with minimal supervision

    Desired Skills/Certifications:

    • Experience with large SQL clusters and/or SQL VMs environments is a plus
    • Knowledge of Deployment environments using Docker is a plus
