    About the Opportunity

    DMI (Digital Management, LLC.) is seeking a Senior System/Hardware Engineer with experience leading Production, COOP, and Disaster Recovery (DR) efforts for a Solaris and RHEL environment. This position will be leading a team of eight (8) system and hardware engineers located at both Fort Knox and Fort Carson. The ideal candidate would have experience with RHEL, Solaris, and security standards.

     

    • Experience with Red Hat Satellite Server, diagnostics and troubleshooting RHEL environments.
    • Experience with Solaris OS, diagnostics and troubleshooting environments.
    • Understanding of operating systems, the organizations operating environment, network requirements, and system automation to include Enterprise Linux, enterprise storage.
    • Understanding of the organizational security standards for operating configurations, security constraints, and procedures for managing organization software.
    • Ability to work with system engineers to engage in joint project planning.
    • Perform hardware/software diagnostics.
    • Experience in and understanding of production operations, server, storage, network, systems management, discrepancy report (DR), and Business recovery practices.
    • Experience and ability to configure TCP/IP, network interfaces and IP security.
    • Understanding of UNIX/Linux shell scripting and applications (e.g. DNS, NFS, Apache, etc.).
    • Strong problem determination/resolution skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in team environment.
    • Self-starter that requires minimal supervision and can provide oversight for any assigned projects.
    • Expert knowledge of server and system administration principles

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Primary and COOP Site POC for iPERMS Production and Disaster Situations
    • Primary and COOP Site POC for Network Situations
    • Primary and COOP Site POC for Data Center Layout, Design, and Configuration
    • System Engineering of a RedHat 7.x Environment to include:
      • DoD STIG Requirements
      • Satellite Installation and Configuration
      • RedHat Standard Build Configuration for iPERMS CRMA and 2.0 Servers
      • RedHat Patching Process
      • ACAS Scanning Process and Patching Procedures development
      • Research of issues, solutions.
      • Script writing/management solutions.
      • Lead and Mentor System Administrator on solutions
    • System Engineering of a Solaris 10 Environment
      • DoD STIG Requirements
      • Standard Build Configuration for iPERMS 1.0 Servers
      • Solaris Patching Process
      • ACAS Scanning Process and Patching Procedures development
      • Research of issues, solutions.
      • Script writing/management solutions.
      • Lead and Mentor System Administrators on solutions

    • Network Familiarity - work with the onsite Network team
      • Coordination with Fort Carson RNEC and Fort Knox NEC for OC3 configuration
      • Coordination with Fort Knox NEC and Fort Carson RNEC to set up SIPR VPN
      • PPS Development with Fort Knox and Fort Carson Information Assurance

    •  Documentation:

      • Rack Diagrams, Documentation, Designs.
      • Work with Strategic Planner, Operations Manager, Database Manager, and Development Team on Bill of Materials and System Layouts
    • Storage & Replication:
      • Work with Storage Engineer to learn how storage is used in iPERMS
      • Work with Storage Engineer, System Admins to configure storage on Fort Carson and Fort Knox systems.
      • Replication between production and COOP sites, ensure COOP site is in sync with Primary site.

     

     

    Qualifications

     

    Education and Years of Experience:  

    • 7+ years experience as a Unix System Administrator, Red Hat Enterprise versions 6 and 7 experience, Solaris 10.
    • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Engineering preferred, but 10+ years of work experience accepted

     Required Skills/Certifications: 

    • Active Security Clearance at the Secret level
    • RHEL 7.x Certification 
    • Security+ Certification
    • Clearance Required: This position requires the ability to obtain/maintain a Secret US government security clearance.
    • Required: Security+
    • Required: RedHat Certification (RHCHA) RedHat 7.x
    • RedHat Certification (RHCE) RedHat 7.x – Desired

    Physical Requirement(s): Travel to Fort Carson, CO may be required.
