    About the Opportunity

    DMI is currently seeking to hire a Systems Analyst.

     

    Position Description:

     

    The Operations Systems Analyst will be supporting members of the Operations Service Line in updating and maintaining custom applications used across the Coast Guard. The Analyst will play a major role in coordinating application projects:  

     

     

    Duties and Responsibilities:.

    The Systems Analyst:

    • With assistance from senior technical personnel, provides expertise in ensuring complex software applications involving new technologies, methods, concepts, or approaches are updated and maintained
    • Reviews technical specifications and implementation plans for automated information systems for review by senior personnel.
    • Analyzes aspects of proposed system modifications to fully identify impacts of changes to system and user interfaces, system usage and performance requirements, availability requirements, etc.
    • Coordinates closely with other service lines to ensure proper implementation of program and system specifications.
    • Facilitate, participate in and contribute to project meetings
    • Communicate frequently with customers or other service lines to obtain and clarify requirements and address issues.
    • Work closely with other service lines to analyze issues, opportunities and test defects
    • Work with all service lines members including Database Administrators, Systems Administrators, and Management to support applications.
    • Prepare documentation to support existing applications/systems.
    • Coordinates with technical leads and Scrum Master/Delivery Managers to schedule system downtimes and releases and ensure proper configuration control of all system update events.
    • Plan, schedule, and control the movement of releases to Stage and Production environments
    • Provide coordination, guidelines, and support for the deployment of system release
    • Coordinate resolution of operational issues rapidly during an initial period after release deployment if any errors of deficiencies are encountered
    • Enter tasking via ticketing system for log reviews, patching, etc. completed by the Environment Management delivery group
    • Ability to learn front end application to update and modify vessel information, perform research to verify message accuracy, correct discrepancies and resubmit messages as necessary

    Qualifications

    Education/Experience Requirements:

    • BA/BS and 2 years of experience OR
    • AA/AS and 4 years of experience 
    • Security+ certification or higher DoD 8570 Information Assurance technical (IAT) Level II compliant 

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • In depth knowledge of system development life cycle processes
    • Solving problems and analytical skills
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to effectively interact with technical staff and various levels of authority
    • Ability to learn quickly in a dynamic environment
    • Ability to take initiative and ownership of projects
    • Ability to remain organized and manage multiple priorities

     

    Beneficial Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Work experience in a complex, enterprise-scale development environment desired
    • Position may require limited on-call status to support system requirements, initiatives, or customer requests after hours and during weekends
    • Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio or similar software, development environments and tools, such as Eclipse, Oracle JDeveloper, NetBeans
    • Experience with various environments, such as Linux, Windows, Oracle, SQL Server, etc.
    • Experience with build automation software such as Team Foundation Build, Jenkins, etc.
    • Experience with change management software, such as Rational ClearQuest, Remedy, and TFS.
