    About the Opportunity

    Digital Management, Inc. (DMI) is seeking a full time Windows Systems Administrator lll to support customer IT infrastructure in the Fort Meade, MD area. The Windows Systems Administrator III will provide system testing support to the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Defense Information System Network (DISN) Operational Support System (OSS) on a DMI customer's global network. The individual will maintain DISN OSS integrity by following a strict testing process to implement system enhancements.

     

    The candidate must have strong oral and written communication skills. The Windows System Administrator III will also coordinate with other SMEs and with clients to evaluate technology needs, recommend improvements, and implement modifications to existing OSS architecture and testing processes. It is critical for this person to work in a team environment while completing tasks and accomplishing goals independently in a dynamic and changing environment.

     

     

    Duties and Responsibilities:   

    • Proactive capacity planning, including short term and long-term trend analysis, ensuring all server infrastructure devices are monitored for capacity and stability.
    • Daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
    • Plan, install, build, manage, support, configure and test server infrastructure components and connectivity
    • Identify physical facility requirements needed to operate server infrastructure components (i.e. floor space, equipment clearance, electrical, cooling, cabling)
    • Provide primary system administration, configuration, and troubleshooting of the Windows servers environment and performance issues. Consulting services and support for release package testing, installation, deployment and operation.
    • Troubleshooting and technical support services for server infrastructure and Applications
    • Maintain server security in compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) and supporting vendor requirements
    • Perform 24x7 on call duties on a rotation basis with the other system administrators.
    • Analyze Windows Systems, check processes and log files, and retrieve and review information contained within logs for troubleshooting.
    • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities.
    • Configure / add new services as necessary;
    • Monitor and troubleshoot backups, scheduled jobs, and be able to monitor systems and processes and take proactive action
    • Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements. Perform system changes following existing change management processes
    • Demonstrate the ability to time-manage and prioritize, take a proactive approach to improving services, and have an innovative and keen interest in learning new technologies
    • Interface directly with end users and other IT groups to ensure complete resolution of server issues reported through the Help Desk tracking system.

    Qualifications

    Education and Years of Experience: 

    Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems / Computer Science or equivalent experience and a minimum of 5 years of related experience.

     

    Required Skills/ Certifications:

    • Minimum 5 years' proficiency in managing and administering Windows Server (e.g. 2008, 2008 R2 )and hardware infrastructure
    • Strong Grasp of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, File Services and Security
    • Design and implementation of complex Active Directory environment focusing on cross-domain functionality, GPO driven policies, and user/group management
    • Experience with working with and configuring services such as SMTP, DNS, IIS and comfort managing third party applications
    • Strong understanding of Network Fundamentals
    • Hardware: Understanding of server hardware (AMD and Intel), CPU architectures, and performance tuning. HP server knowledge, a plus
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Availability for 24X7 on call support
    • DoD Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVAJ) patching security a plus
    • Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems / Computer Science or equivalent experience and a minimum of 5 years of related experience
    • DoD Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVAJ) patching security a plus
    • Certifications required by 8570.1 which may include Security+ or higher

    Desired Skills/ Certifications:

    • Experience in VMware, vSphere (ESXi) and vCenter technologies.
    • Microsoft operating system certification is a plus
    • Public Key Infrastructure knowledge is a plus
    • Virtualization experience is a plus
