    About the Opportunity

    Digital Management, LLC. (DMI) is seeking a full time Solaris Systems Administrator with a background in Information Assurance/Cybersecurity to provide IT infrastructure support in the Arlington, VA area. The Solaris Systems Administrator will work within a team environment to provide end-to-end management and administration support for PEO EIS systems in support of DMI's Technical Integration Management Support Systems (TIMSS) contract. Support includes but is not limited to the implementation of new system releases/updates, support for testing activities, troubleshooting outages within test and production environments, scanning and patching systems and documentation production. Strong oral and written communication skills are a must.


    Duties and Responsibilities:   

    • Serves as the lead specialist on Solaris issues and provide team coordination
    • Provide technical and infrastructure support services for Solaris OS based servers and systems, including but not limited to Systems Administration of UNIX (Solaris), DNSSec, SFTP and other Solaris based services
    • Administers and configures network hardware and software resources, such as servers, DNS, databases, etc. and provides protocol and connectivity support to developers of web-enabled applications
    • Develops, monitors, and maintains utilities and procedures to perform periodic maintenance, backups, shutdowns, recoveries, and diagnostics
    • Evaluates, recommends, and installs software and hardware to facilitate and monitor network throughput and control load balancing
    • Plans and participates in software and hardware migrations
    • Establishes, tests, and maintains disaster recovery plans.
    • Creates, edits, and maintains system documentation
    • Follows established customer’s configuration management policy and procedures in the administration of the customer’s Solaris systems.
    • Configure ACAS (Security Center) and NESSUS to manage Solaris server patches.
    • Deploy SCAP (Security Content Automation Protocol) on all Solaris servers to comply with security STIGS.
    • SPLUNK implementation/maintenance for Solaris servers
    • Resolve Solaris tickets assigned to Tier II and work with Tier III for issue resolution
    • Monitor external interface logs and interfaces
    • Monitor and administer HBSS on Solaris servers
    • Administer Footprints ticketing system application




    Education and Years of Experience: 

    •  Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
    •  5+ years experience as a Solaris Systems Administrator (Intermediate to Senior Level)

    Required Skills/Certifications:

    • DoD Directive 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II compliant
    • Security + CE Certification
    • Solaris System Administration Certification (SCSA)
    • 5+ years experience building, implementing and maintaining Solaris 8-10 server. Solaris 11 is a plus
    • 5+ years intermediate level understanding of Network engineering (VLANS, traffic optimization, etc.)
    • 5+ years working with VM environments
    • 5+ years troubleshooting application, hardware, and storage environments and infrastructure
    • Advanced Systems/software engineering experience with scripting abilities
    • Planning, deployment, and operational use of Security Center with Nessus, and Passive Vulnerability Scanner (PVS)
    • Experience in Data Security, security center scanning, running network and credential scans, vulnerability analysis, PVS Vulnerability and Event Analysis, Compliance Audits, and Security Center Roles

    Desired Skills/Certifications:

    • ITIL v3 Foundation Certification
    • Advanced proficiency in Solaris operating systems
    • Advanced proficiency in server virtualization
    • HBSS administration
    • Ability to work in a team environment with other SMEs of different technical backgrounds
    • Knowledge of running DISA STIGs on Solaris servers
    • Ability to create and maintain a STIGed baseline OS for system Installations
    • 5+ years extensive experience supporting large UNIX environments
    • 5+ years or more of Solaris (8 to 10) experience. Solaris 11 is a plus
    • 5+ years of experience with SUN Cluster and Oracle RAC implementation
    • Three years of experience with Solaris Containers and LDOM implementation
    • Seven years of experience with Shell Scripting (sh, bash, csh, python, Perl)
    • Experience with Oracle 9i/10g/11g RDBMS, Oracle 9i/10g Application Server
    • Experience with Shell Scripting, SAN, and Networking technologies
    • Excellent verbal and written skills


    Physical Requirement(s): Ability to lift and move 50 lbs of equipment



    Additional Requirements: Occasional travel may be required locally on an as needed basis
