    About the Opportunity

    DMI is actively searching for cleared IT professionals in the Ft. Knox, KY area to fill multiple positions in support of the United States Army Human Resources Command (HRC). We have immediate openings for the positions: Project Managers, Java Developers, Application Developers, Business Analysts, Configuration Management Specialists, Database Professionals, Hardware Engineers, Network Engineers, Help Desk Specialists, Information Assurance & Cybersecurity Professionals, System Engineers, Test Engineers, Technical Training Professionals, Web Designers, and Technical Writers.


    DMI is seeking a Senior level Hardware Engineer Analyst to serve as the customer's point of contact to provide planning, sesigning and evaluation of prodcuts, as well as collaboration with the production management.  This position will be leading a technical team located in two different locations, so leadership experience is a must.  Candidate must have a thorough understanding of applicable business systems and industry best practices with respect to RHEL and Solaris administration.  Must be competent to work at the highest technical level of most phases of system administration, while considering the business implications of the application of technology to the current and future business environment.  Thus, a commitment to collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and product quality is essential. 


    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • In-depth knowledge of hardware configuration, sizing, and data center operations
    • Coordination with NEC and RNEC for Production and COOP sites for data center layout, design and configuration for both the NIPR and SIPR
    • Knowledge and experience in operations and maintenance of COOP services and system backup to maintain high availability
    • Establishes hardware and systems engineering environment by designing configuration; directing system installation; defining, documenting and enforcing system standards
    • Maximizes hardware capability by monitoring performance; troubleshooting problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with network architects on network optimization
    • Reporting overall system operational status by gathering, prioritizing information; managing projects
    • Secures hardware and enterprise system by establishing and enforcing policies; defining and monitoring access
    • Creates and maintains Rack Diagrams, Documentation, and Designs
    • Works with Sr Architect, Sr Network Engineer, Operations Manager, and Development Team on hardware requirements, security changes and documentation
    • LAN Knowledge, proxy servers, hardware and system design and implementation, Network Troubleshooting, Hardware Configuration, and Performance Tuning
    • Expert in Red Hat diagnostics and troubleshooting RHEL environments
    • Expert in Solaris OS, diagnostics and troubleshooting environments
    • Experience with large Storage Area Networks (SAN)
    • In-Depth knowledge of operating systems, the organizations operating environment, network requirements, and system automation to include Enterprise Linux, and enterprise storage
    • Understanding of the organizational security standards for operating configurations, security constraints, and procedures for managing organization software
    • Perform as the lead system engineer to manage projects and engage in joint project planning
    • Knowledge of UNIX/Linux shell scripting and applications (eg DNS, NFS, Apache, etc)
    • Knowledge of configuration management and quality assurance concepts and guidelines such as AGILE, Information Technology Infrastructure
    • Library (ITIL), Institute of Electrical, and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Software
    • Engineering Institute (SEI) Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI), and Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK)
    • Maintain IT system patching schedules
    • Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) findings and resolution


    Education and Years of Experience: 

    • 7+ years of experience

    • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Engineering or comparable work experience

    Required Skills/Certifications:

    • DoD 8570 certified and either RHEL or Java certification
    • DoD approved 8570 baseline certification:  IAT II | (e.g. CompTIA Security+ (CE) or better)
    • DoD approved 8570 computing environment certification applicable to position (ex. RHEL or Solaris)


    Additional Requirements:

    • Active Security Clearance at the Secret level
