About the Opportunity

The Experience group at DMI helps clients navigate the demands of modern brands -- how to engage with customers to develop strong, lasting relationships. This manifests in marketing, customer experience and technology needs. Within the experience group, Strategy supports all three disciplines. As such, DMI is looking for a Director of Strategy to oversee both marketing and customer experience projects. In addition to supporting and overseeing client projects, the Director of Strategy will participate in new business pursuits to help drive agency growth. We’re looking for someone with a strong point of view, who can represent the voice of the customer to internal and client teams, while collaborating with design and technology. 

You have a curious mind, a strong gut, and you know how to pull the heartstrings. You are a natural problem solver with a bias towards action. 




  • Mentor and manage the strategy team in US
    • Conduct quarterly reviews and feedback sessions, including growth planning
    • Hire, Fire and identify contracting needs
    • Continue to develop career framework with team to augment new skills and offerings
  • Oversee the output of the US-based strategy team, including overseeing key accounts. 
    • Participate in key accounts
    • Oversee outputs to ensure projects are delivered successfully (e.g., weekly reviews, oversight) 
    • Ensure that performance (e.g., measurement, analytics) is a proven part of our projects, encouraging results throughout the project with all team members
  • Help grow the business 
    • Develop strategic approach and proposals for new business 
    • Work with account teams to identify opportunities to drive growth of in-line accounts
    • Collaborate and drive growth with Digital Marketing discipline leads, both via growth of in-line accounts and through strategic guidance for agency marketing
  • Evaluate and develop strategic offerings and solutions (lead) with support from team
    • Ensure our strategy team meets the needs of our clients
      • Develop business strategy offering and delivery of, including but not limited to business case development and performance tracking
      • Develop strategic support for business transformation projects (e.g., change management, cultural facilitation, coaching, etc.)
    • Align strategy Studio (physical DMI locations identified for internal collaborate and client co-creation) solutions with market needs to create successful spaces for client and team collaboration 
  • Thought leadership through content development, including content and speaking events
    • Nurture content development from the team (including other practices) to propagate DMI’s point of view in the market
  • Align with CX leadership leads from UX and Strategy in US, EU and India
    • Encourage process alignment and consolidation of best practices
    • Improve accuracy of estimation and project scoping 
    • Improve efficiency of project delivery 




  • 8+ years of hybrid experience of marketing/communications (brand, campaign) and customer experience (digital products, innovation, human-centered design)
  • 5+ years conducting, planning and analyzing research including qualitative and quantitative primary research
  • 3+ years of direct report management experience
  • Experience participating in new business efforts and supporting agency sales 



  • Remote in Washington, DC Metro Area or New York Metro Area
