About the Opportunity

DMI, LLC is seeking a Data Architect to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in designing and implementing data solutions, with proficiency in SQL Server, Microsoft Azure, Snowflake, Databricks, and other relevant technologies. The Senior Data Architect will play a crucial role in shaping our data architecture strategy, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance of our data systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Design, develop, and implement data architecture solutions using SQL Server, Microsoft Azure, Snowflake, and Databricks.
  • Lead the evaluation and selection of appropriate data management tools and technologies.
  • Define data modeling standards and best practices to ensure consistency and maintainability.
  • Develop data integration strategies to enable seamless data flow across systems.
  • Optimize database performance and scalability through efficient design and configuration.
  • Implement SQL Server cluster and high availability solutions to ensure maximum uptime and reliability.
  • Lead migration efforts from on-premises databases to Azure SQL Database and other cloud-based solutions.
  • Design and implement both Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) solutions on the Microsoft Azure platform.
  • Utilize SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and Azure Data Factory for ETL processes and data migration.
  • Implement and optimize SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) for multidimensional and tabular data models.
  • Develop and maintain SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) reports for business intelligence and analytics purposes.
  • Contribute to data governance initiatives by establishing policies, standards, and processes for data management and security.
  • Utilize Python/Powershell for scripting and automation tasks related to data processing and analysis.
  • Knowledge of machine learning and AI concepts, with the ability to integrate these technologies into data solutions.
  • Experience with tools such as Erwin for data modeling, Splunk for log analysis, and Dynatrace for performance monitoring will be a plus.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in data architecture and recommend innovations to enhance our data infrastructure.

Qualifications

Education and Years of Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience with Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; 
  • Proven experience as a Data Architect or similar role, with at least 5 years of experience in designing and implementing data solutions.

Required and Desired Skills/Certifications: 

  • Expertise in SQL Server, including database design, optimization, and administration, with experience in SQL Server cluster and high availability configurations.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure data services, including Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse Analytics, etc.
  • Proficiency in Snowflake data platform, including data modeling, warehousing, and querying.
  • Experience with data integration techniques and tools such as SSIS and Azure Data Factory.
  • Solid understanding of cloud computing principles and best practices.
  • Experience with tools such as Erwin, Splunk, and Dynatrace will be a plus.
  • Knowledge of PowerShell/Python for scripting and automation tasks.
  • Familiarity with machine learning and AI concepts.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to interact effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Experience in data governance practices and frameworks is highly desirable.
  • Ability to write clear and concise technical documentation and proposals.

Additional Requirements:

  • Microsoft Azure certification(s) (e.g., Azure Data Engineer, Azure Solutions Architect) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with data governance and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
