About the Opportunity

DMI, LLC is seeking a IT Asset Transportation Specialist to join us. 

 

The IT Asset Transportation Specialist’s main responsibility is to provide support for the Department of Information Technology’s IT asset inventory process and workflows. The IT Asset Transportation Specialist is responsible for the secure and efficient transportation of IT assets within an organization and to/from external locations. This role ensures that IT equipment is safely packed, shipped, and delivered in accordance with organizational policies and industry standards, minimizing risk of damage and ensuring timely availability of assets. The IT Asset Transportation Specialist plays a key contributing role in managing and maintaining accurate records of the organization's IT assets. This position involves maintaining and reconciling hardware inventory, providing support related to inventory audits, and ensuring compliance with State asset management and inventory policies. The IT Asset Transportation Specialist collaborates with IT teams as needed to optimize IT asset logistics workflows and processes and contributes to overall IT efficiency.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Asset Transportation Planning
    • Develop and execute transportation plans for IT assets, including hardware and software components, to various locations.
    • Coordinate with internal teams, external vendors, and logistics partners to arrange pickups, deliveries, and shipments.
    • Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and organizational policies.
  • Packaging and Handling
    • Oversee the proper packaging of IT assets to prevent damage during transit.
    • Implement best practices for handling and securing sensitive IT equipment.
    • Manage inventory of packaging materials and supplies.
  • Logistics Coordination
    • Schedule and track shipments, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries.
    • Maintain detailed records of shipments, including dates, locations, and condition of assets upon delivery.
    • Handle customs documentation and clearance for international shipments.
  • Security and Compliance
    • Ensure the security of IT assets during transportation to prevent loss, theft, or unauthorized access.
    • Follow data protection protocols, especially for assets containing sensitive or confidential information.
    • Adhere to environmental regulations for the transportation and disposal of electronic equipment.
  • Inventory and Documentation
    • Update asset management systems with transportation details, maintaining accurate records of asset movements.
    • Perform regular audits and reconciliations to ensure inventory accuracy.
    • Generate reports on transportation activities and metrics for management review.
  • Problem Resolution
    • Address and resolve issues related to delayed or damaged shipments.
    • Coordinate with insurance providers for claims related to transportation incidents.
    • Identify and implement improvements to transportation processes and procedures.
  • IT Collaboration
    • Collaborate and consult with DoIT ITAM team members to solve issues related to the reconciliation and validation of transported IT assets.
    • Research and investigate solutions and workarounds by partnering with DoIT technical teams and peers.
    • Work closely with IT teams, customers, and vendors to gather IT asset inventory information.
