About the Opportunity

DMI, LLC is seeking a Data Center Lead (Nutanix) to join us. 

 

The Data Center Lead (Nutanix) is responsible for the leadership, design, and administration of Nutanix-based data center systems. The role involves overseeing the configuration, deployment, and monitoring of data center hardware and software, including Nutanix Hypervisor, VMware, and Windows Servers. The position requires expert knowledge in virtualization, system patching, and backup solutions (Veritas NetBackup) while providing critical support for Disaster Recovery (DR) exercises and FISMA audits. This role will also ensure the seamless functioning of the data center and compliance with operational standards.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • System Design & Configuration:

    • Lead the design and implementation of Nutanix Hypervisor and VMware systems, ensuring data center hardware and software run optimally.
    • Manage the deployment of Windows servers and other associated infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration into the existing environment.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement technology solutions tailored to the organization's needs.
  • Monitoring & Troubleshooting:

    • Oversee the monitoring of data center systems to ensure high performance and availability.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to Nutanix, VMware, and Windows servers, minimizing downtime and optimizing system efficiency.
  • Backup & Recovery Management:

    • Administer Veritas NetBackup systems, ensuring data is securely backed up and recoverable in case of emergencies.
    • Manage backup schedules and ensure all critical data is protected against potential failures.
  • Disaster Recovery & Compliance:

    • Lead Disaster Recovery (DR) exercises, ensuring data center readiness in the event of system failures or other crises.
    • Support FISMA audits by ensuring systems are compliant with federal security standards and operational requirements.
  • Team Leadership & Mentorship:

    • Provide guidance and leadership to the data center team, ensuring best practices in system management and virtualization.
    • Mentor junior staff members and assist with developing their technical skills and capabilities.

Qualifications

Education and Years of Experience:  

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or a relevant field is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 15 years of practical experience in leading the design, configuration, deployment, and monitoring of data center hardware and software.

Required and Desired Skills/Certifications: 

 

Certifications:

  • Required ITIL 4+ Foundation Certification and MCA Microsoft Azure Admin certification – prior to onboarding.
  • Nutanix Certified Associate (NCA) – required within 6 months of onboarding.
  • VMware Certified Implementation Expert (VCIX) – required within 6 months of onboarding.

Experience:

    • Strong experience with Nutanix Hypervisor, VMware, and Windows server environments.
    • Proven experience with Veritas NetBackup systems and backup/recovery management.
    • Experience leading Disaster Recovery (DR) exercises and supporting FISMA audits
    • Deep understanding of Nutanix and VMware virtualization technologies, including troubleshooting and optimization.
    • Strong background in Windows server administration and system patching.
    • Expertise in data backup and recovery processes using Veritas NetBackup or similar solutions.

Additional Requirements:

    • Strong communication and leadership abilities, with the ability to mentor and guide technical teams.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex systems.
    • Attention to detail with a focus on system security and compliance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Additional certifications in cloud computing, data center operations, or system security.
  • Experience in hybrid cloud environments or other virtualization platforms.
