About the Opportunity

DMI, LLC is seeking a Senior Network Engineer - Lead to join us. The Senior Network Engineer - Lead is responsible for overseeing the design, configuration, deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting of network hardware and software within the organization. The role requires deep expertise in Cisco technologies, including routers, firewalls, switches, and advanced network management tools such as ThousandEyes, Cisco DNA Center (DNAC), Stealthwatch, and Identity Services Engine (ISE). The Senior Network Engineer will lead a team of network engineers to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability of the organization's data networks, while also managing upgrades, patches, and system enhancements.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Network Design & Configuration:

    • Lead the design and implementation of network architecture, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance.
    • Configure and manage Cisco routers, firewalls, switches, and other networking hardware.
    • Develop network management solutions using tools like ThousandEyes, Cisco DNA Center (DNAC), and Stealthwatch to enhance monitoring and performance.
  • Deployment & Upgrades:

    • Oversee the deployment and upgrade of network systems, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
    • Implement new technologies and enhancements to meet organizational needs and industry standards.
    • Ensure network systems are patched regularly, maintaining security and compliance with IT policies.
  • Monitoring & Troubleshooting:

    • Monitor network performance using advanced tools to ensure the reliability and responsiveness of systems.
    • Diagnose and troubleshoot network issues in real-time, applying root cause analysis and quick resolution techniques.
    • Manage access and identity services using Cisco ISE to maintain secure network environments.
  • Security & Compliance:

    • Implement robust firewall and security measures to protect the network from external and internal threats.
    • Work closely with security teams to ensure compliance with FISMA, NIST, and other applicable regulations.
    • Lead efforts in securing data through regular vulnerability assessments and audits.
  • Leadership & Team Management:

    • Lead a team of network engineers, providing mentorship, guidance, and training to foster skill development.
    • Coordinate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of network services with broader IT infrastructure.
    • Represent the network team in strategic discussions, ensuring network considerations are factored into organizational decision-making.

Qualifications

Education and Years of Experience:  

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a relevant field is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 15 years of practical experience in designing, configuring, and managing enterprise-level network infrastructures.

Required and Desired Skills/Certifications: 

 

Certifications:

  • Required: Cisco Certified Networking Professional (CCNP) certification – prior to onboarding.
  • Required: ITIL 4+ Foundation Certification – prior to onboarding.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong expertise with Cisco networking technologies, including routers, firewalls, switches, and advanced network monitoring and security tools such as ThousandEyes, DNAC, Stealthwatch, and Cisco ISE.
  • Deep understanding of routing protocols, network architecture, and security best practices.
  • Proven experience with Cisco hardware and software, including extensive hands-on configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with advanced network management and analytics tools such as ThousandEyes, Cisco DNA Center, Stealthwatch, and ISE.
  • Ability to implement and manage network security measures, firewalls, and access control solutions.

Additional Requirements:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to mentor and develop junior staff.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving network issues.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Additional certifications in network security or advanced Cisco specializations.
  • Experience with cloud-based networking or hybrid network solutions.
