About the Opportunity

Job Title: Network Engineer Level I

Job Overview:

We are seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented Network Engineer to join our growing team. The Network Engineer will be responsible for assisting with the installation, configuration, and support of our organization's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and internet systems or a segment of a network system.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Monitor and maintain network performance to determine whether adjustments need to be made, and to determine where changes will need to be made in the future with adherence to service level agreements (SLAs).
  2. Assist in the installation and support of network communications, including LAN/WAN systems.
  3. Execute routine checks and monitor network performance.
  4. Perform system backups and recovery.
  5. Assist with the implementation of network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
  6. Coordinate with vendors to resolve networking issues.
  7. Assist in the selection of network design, hardware, and software.
  8. Assist in troubleshooting of network problems and outages; schedule upgrades; collaborate with network architects for network optimization.
  9. Assist in network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
  10. Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in network administration.
  • Understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS).
  • Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model.
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Strong analytical abilities and professional office experience needed.

Preferred Skills:

  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCENT, CompTIA Network+ are a plus.
  • Experience with firewalls, Internet VPN's remote implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution is desired.
  • Knowledge of coding languages for scripting (e.g., Python, Perl) is a plus.
