About the Opportunity

DMI, LLC is seeking a Senior Business Analyst,Tester (Agile) to join us. 

 

The Data Validation Specialist will be a dedicated resource within the MetroSync testing team, primarily responsible for the accurate and comprehensive validation of payroll data throughout various testing phases, including data migration, system integration testing (SIT), and user acceptance testing (UAT). This role requires deep expertise in data analysis, strong SQL skills, and a fundamental understanding of payroll processes and calculations. The Specialist will work closely with Business Analysts, Testers, Developers, and payroll subject matter experts to ensure data integrity and reconciliation between legacy and new systems.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the MetroSync Project Manager and business stakeholders to understand payroll system requirements and design testing strategies for the new release.
  • Conduct data validation to ensure accuracy and integrity of payroll data throughout the system.
  • Provide regular status updates and progress reports on testing activities to the MetroSync Project Manager and relevant stakeholders.
  • Support the development of training materials and user documentation related to the new payroll system functionalities.
  • Participate in post-implementation review and provide recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Understand and analyze business processes and requirements related to financial management, accounting, procurement, and other finance-related functions.
  • Understand PeopleSoft and oracle Fusion Financials modules to align with business requirements, such as payroll operations, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, asset management, cash management, and other finance-related configurations.
  • Analyze processes and workflows to identify opportunities for improvement through software support
  • Document requirements in user stories/use cases and epics
  • Document test requirements in test cases
  • Analyze and document system interfaces, database structures, and data flows
  • Coordinate and lead analytic activities with stakeholders
  • Use software tools as required to document requirements, analyze needs, identify risk, propose designs, and write documentation
  • Conduct peer reviews

Qualifications

Education and Years of Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field
  • Five (5) or more years of relevant experience

 Minimum Requirements:

    • Data Analysis & Reconciliation:
      Conduct in-depth analysis of legacy payroll data to understand structures, transformations, and potential discrepancies for migration to the Oracle Fusion Cloud.
    • Develop and execute complex SQL queries against source and target databases (Oracle Fusion and legacy systems) to extract, compare, and validate payroll data.
    • Perform comprehensive reconciliation of payroll data elements, including employee demographics, pay rates, deductions, benefits, taxes, gross-to-net calculations, and accruals.
      Identify and document data anomalies, inconsistencies, and errors, flagging them for investigation and resolution by development and data migration teams.
  • Test Data Management:
    • Assist in the creation and preparation of accurate and representative test data sets for various payroll testing scenarios
    • Ensure test data adequately covers edge cases, complex scenarios (e.g., retro-pay, multiple garnishments, union rules), and high-volume transactions.
    • Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of sensitive payroll test data.
  • Validation of Payroll Calculations:
    • Independently validate complex payroll calculations (gross pay, tax withholding, deductions, net pay) within the new Oracle Fusion system against expected results.
    • Develop validation rules and metrics to verify the accuracy of automated payroll processes.
    • Work with payroll subject matter experts to understand and validate specific business rules related to WMATA's unique payroll requirements (e.g., specific union contracts, shift differentials).
  • Reporting & Documentation:
    • Document detailed data validation plans, methodologies, and findings.
    • Generate clear and concise reports on data quality issues, reconciliation results, and validation progress.
    • Track and manage data-related defects within the project's defect tracking system (e.g., JIRA, Azure DevOps).
    • Provide regular updates to the Metro Sync Project Manager and testing lead on data validation status and critical findings.
  • Collaboration:
    • Collaborate closely with data migration teams to ensure data transformation rules are correctly applied and validated.
    • Partner with functional testers and business analysts to align data validation efforts with overall testing strategies.
    • Communicate effectively with payroll business users to clarify data requirements and validate specific scenarios.
    • Demonstrable experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, particularly Oracle Fusion Cloud applications (HCM, Financials, Procurement) is required, given MetroSync ispowered by Oracle Fusion.
    • Experience in IT project management and business analysis roles, with a strong emphasis on system implementation and testing.
    • Extensive experience with payroll systems and operations is a mandatory requirement.
    • Candidates must understand payroll processes, tax implications, union rules, timekeeping, and associated integrations. Experience with specific payroll context (e.g., PeopleSoft, Kronos history) is a significant plus.
    • Strong background in data validation
    • Experience in the public sector or large government organizations is highly desirable, demonstrating an understanding of complex stakeholder environments and regulatory requirements.
    • Skill in process analysis methods and techniques
    • Experience in analyzing processes and identifying opportunities for improvements through software support
    • Experience establishing successful relationships with business stakeholders
    • Experience in analyzing data structures and data flows
    • Experience documenting test cases
    • Experience as a Scrum Master/Product Owner in an Agile software development environment
    • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
    • Proficiency with JIRA, Confluence, MS Excel, Word, Visio, or a similar tool, and PowerPoint.
    • Experience in working with third-party systems.
    • Experience in cloud-based PeopleSoft deployments.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Master's degree in computer science or a related field.
  • PeopleSoft certified
