About the Opportunity

DMI, LLC is seeking a COTS System Engineer to join us.  The COTS Systems Engineer will be responsible for providing operational support and implementing applications, upgrades, and routine maintenance using existing and emerging technology platforms.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the daily maintenance of an organization’s IT enterprise-scale business applications (Windows and Linux) and supporting hardware and infrastructure.
  • Review security scans, determine the mitigation strategy, and make the necessary changes.
  • Plan and execute application upgrades in lower environments, validate functionality, and promote changes to higher environments.
  • Monitor and manage IT infrastructure using information technology control tools and real-time reporting systems.
  • Manage and coordinate information technology operations to ensure delivery of timely and effective IT services.
  • Oversee the set-up, configuration, and maintenance of infrastructure and applications servers.
  • Diagnose root cause of breakdowns, including human error, and troubleshoot problems.
  • Initiate and confirm opening and closing of firewall ports for upgrades and troubleshooting.
  • Validate the integrity and security of a network to ensure that access is allowed only to authorized users.
  • Ensure compliance with all internal organization standards and best practices to sustain quality of service.
  • Conduct periodic inspections of IT systems to ensure efficient performance.
  • Establish and document policies and procedures for achieving operational objectives related to tickets, reporting, and SLAs.
  • Work with a team of software engineers, programmers, and technicians to ensure effective performance of job duties.
  • Crosstrain other IT personnel to ensure an efficient unit.

Qualifications

Education and Years of Experience:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or related technical or functional discipline
  • 5+ years of IT experience
  • 5+ years proven experience in production/industrial engineering.

Required and Desired Skills/Certifications: 

  • Cloud experience
  • Experience in executing scripts and batch jobs.
  • Experience planning and leading the work of a team to achieve goals and meet success criteria at a specified time.

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of a Fingerprint background investigation.
  • Experience coordinating and directing IT operations specialist to meet organizational requirements.
  • Proficient in installing, configuring, and maintaining IT systems (Windows, Linux) and equipment
  • Ability to independently investigate, troubleshoot, design, and develop solutions.
  • Detail-oriented and extremely efficient
  • Ability to maintain positive vendor and client relationships.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills to interact with business and technology teams.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite.
