    Digital Management, Inc. (DMI) is seeking a full time Systems Engineer to support an Army customer at Aberdeen Proving Grounds. The Systems Engineer will manage system infrastructure; troubleshoot issues with regards to network/server outages; setup laptops/desktops for staff and field sites; deploy and manage IP based telephony system; gather system requirements; and have strong oral and written communication skills.


    Duties and Responsibilities:


    • Gather and manage network requirements
    • Design and implement local area and wide area networks including network servers, workstations, hubs, routers, firewalls, VPN concentrators(site to site and remote) and other peripheral devices
    • Assist with troubleshooting network problems using packet sniffing applications (SNORT, Wireshark, netmon etc…)
    • Provide Level 1 and Level 2 server and network, desktop/helpdesk support and work closely with other senior member to resolve technical issues, as well as perform routine tasks such as tape movement, server reboots, user and group administration, simple software installation, etc.
    • Use ticketing system to document symptoms and status information as well as assign an applicable priority
    • Perform regular inventories of in-house, remote offices and data center equipment
    • Document configurations and maintain such documentation per department Change Control methodologies
    • Assist with the forecasting and managing of server technologies and growth, coordinate and manage client/server disaster recovery planning
    • Install and configure network servers for network monitoring and management
    • Operate and maintain local area and wide area networks, tracks significant problems, monitors performance, and performs upgrades to hardware and software as required
    • Install or modify existing installations of networked computer hardware, software, and other components
    • Secure the network infrastructure
    • Setup secure wireless networks
    • Participate in long- and short-range technology planning
    • Maintain documentation regarding network configurations, operating procedures, and service records relating to network hardware and software
    • Assist in developing training for DMI staff and clients in the proper operation of the wide and local area networks


    Education and Years of Experience: 


    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Management or related field OR a High School Diploma and three (3) years related experience
    • Experience with DOD environment and policies



    Required Skills/Certifications:


    • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in technologies and software to include, but not limited to, Windows scripting, Computer Associates (CA) , and Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) software tools in addition to computer networking and Windows, Unix/Linux, and Mac computer platforms
    • Security +
    • ITIL V3
    • Experience with DOD environment and policies


    Desired Skills/Certifications:

    • Microsoft Exchange 2007/2010 Administration
    • Microsoft SharePoint 2007/2010 and Website Administration
    • Knowledge of extranet topologies and DMZ setup
    • Microsoft SQL 2005/2008
    • MCP or higher certification



    Additional Requirements: Secret Clearance




    Physical Requirement(s):

    • Must be able to lift 40 pounds
    • Job will require physical activity, including but not limited to working under desks for computer installations and traversing considerable distances daily within and between government buildings
    • Must be able to walk long distances for 20% or (certain percentage) of the day
